Device groups using Device Management Portal

Creating device groups with Device Management Portal

  1. Log in to Device Management Portal.
  2. Select Device directory > Device groups from the menu on the left side of the page.
  3. Click Add group on the right side of the header. A search bar appears below.
  4. Enter the name of the group you want to create.
  5. Click Create device group. Enter a description (optional).
  6. Click Next.
  7. Under the column In this group, tick the checkbox next to each device that you want to add.
  8. Add attributes, or tags, for the devices in this group (optional). Click Next.
  9. Verify that your group information is correct, and click Finish.

Quick Create

You can create a group and add devices at the same time in Device Management Portal, using the Quick Create feature.

Note: This feature is not available through the API.

In Device Management Portal:

  1. Select Device directory > Device groups.
  2. Click Add group.
  3. Click Quick create in the top header.
  4. Enter your group information:
  • Name.
  • Description (optional).
  • Devices. Tick the checkbox next to each device that you want to add.
  • Attributes.
  1. Click Finish to create your group.

Modifying groups

Once you create a group, you can add or remove devices. Devices can be in more than one group.

Adding devices to an existing group

In Device Management Portal:

  1. Select Device directory > Devices.
  2. Tick the checkbox next to a device ID to select that device.
  3. Click Actions.
  4. Click Add to device group.
  5. Select your group.
  6. Click Add.

Removing devices from groups

In Device Management Portal:

  1. Click the group you want to modify. A frame appears to the right showing information for that group, including which devices it contains.
  2. Tick the checkbox next to the device ID for each device that you want to remove.
  3. Click Actions.
  4. A pop-up opens. Confirm by clicking Remove.

Deleting groups

In Device Management Portal:

  1. Select Device directory > Device groups.
  2. Tick the box next to the group that you want to delete.
  3. Click Actions and select Delete groups.
  4. A pop-up opens. Confirm by clicking Delete.
